Halloween and Bombshell Sugar Skulls!!!

How happy do these BOMBSHELL sugar skulls look? I embossed them and cut them out. I added blingy eyes... some got pearls and some got gems... boys and girls, I guess!I popped the white and pink ones up with pop dots and I left the others flat. I used a SU rub on to add the sentiment and then I got out the glitter and gel pens to add the dot accents. To me... it always looks like a  movie marquee...fun fun FUN! I layered the 2 ribbons and here is my fun Halloween Creation! Thanks for popping in!

Santa Baby? INDEED!!!

I LOVE this Bombshell stamp... and I thought she would look awesome on a Christmas card... and ...so... what do you think? I think if I looked like this...I would no longer HAVE a wish list!!! I colored her with Copic markers...of course... and then i cut her out and adhered her to a nestie. The red background paper is embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder that looks like candy cane stripes...super cute! I have had these poinsettias forever and now was a great time to bust them out... as I think they add the perfect touch for this card! Thanks for looking...and please scroll down for the Stamp Insanity post!

SISC 33 ... SPOOKALICIOUS!!! Halloween Bag in a Box

I made this super cute bag in a box using a tutorial that I found on SCS in the resource section. Super cute and so easy... easy enough to make a bunch of them for all of the little goblins and gremlins on your spooky list! I colored the Devil Doll HILDA with copic markers and I used my spooky fence punch for a little bit extra Halloween flavor... Thanks for popping in and be sure to check out the Stamp Insanity blog for all of the other gals creations...

And ... for your insane pleasure...

Traverse City State Hospital

Opened in 1885 by the state in response to overcrowding in the state's four other asylums. It was built according to the Kirkbride plan with the north wing for female patients and the south wing for male patients. The Kirkbride building still exists and is now known as Building 50. When the 20th century began, cottages were constructed on the grounds as the patient population grew. There was also a farm on the site but most of those buildings have not survived to modern times. This facility was closed in 1989 as part of the trend toward deinstutionalization of mentally ill population. After closing, the facility passed in ownership to the local government and was converted into offices, shops, a police station etc. called Grand Traverse Commons.

A Sweet Little Card for the Love of My Life... David!!!

I made this card for my sweet hubby using Bombshell stamps. I love the little angel sentiment because that is just what he is! I made this a shaker card and embossed the front panel. I added the soft and pretty ribbon roses and then the sentiment using a rub on from SU. This is totally crazy... but, I NEVER make cards for anyone... I buy them... Nuts...I know. So Hopefully he will know exactly HOW wonderful he is to me when I give him a card that I MADE...Thanks for popping in!

And no way could I make a card with no bling...people would think I was ill! SOOO, I added some gems in the corner and one in the center. Please check back soon as we will be having a blog hop featuring some of the new sets that we have... and we will be making some changes to our challenges... so stay tuned!

Subtle... But STILL SPARKLEY!!!

This gorgeous stamp is actually 2 gorgeous stamps and they are from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps... or PPRS which is SOOOO much easier to type! (LOL)
I stamped them in Versamark on Kraft Card and then I used stickles to make them all blingy and Dawn- Like! Then for the leaves, I used green glitter markers (spica) to make them sparkley too... why should the flowers have all the fun??? I used a slot corner punch and mounted the kraft panel onto green card and here is my creation! These stamps are really, REALLY nice. Deeply etched red rubber... and really budget friendly! They also have clear stamps and DIES that match! HOW FUN IS THAT??? Well, let me tell ya... it is FUN! Keep watching this blog and you will see some really fun creations using those sets as well! Thanks for popping in and ... STAY TUNED!

sugar sugar... SKULLS???

What then? I KNOW...a gift card from the spa that I work at! It is the perfect size... not only for the treat holder... but also for the person who gets it...a massage, a pedi, a facial...Pampering is always the right size!
This was super easy to make also. I used a 8.5 x 2.5 piece of paper and i scored it at .75,1.25,4.5 and 5. A few quick folds and some decorating and copics of course and here is my creation! i hope you will try this yourself... fun and easy... and candy fits in there as well! Thanks for popping in!

AND... here is another asylum...

Danvers State Insane Asylum
In 1878 the State Lunatic Hospital at Danvers was erected, under the supervision of prominent Boston architect Nathaniel J Bradlee, in an extremely rural, out-of-the-way location. While the hospital was originally established to provide residential treatment and care to the mentally ill, its functions expanded to include a training program for nurses in 1889 and a pathological research laboratory in 1895. By the 1920's the hospital was operating school clinics to help determine mental deficiency in children. During the 1960's as a result of increased emphasis on alternative methods of treatment and deinstitutionalization and community based mental health care, the inpatient population started to decrease. Danvers State Hospital closed on June 24, 1992 due to budget cuts within the mental health system.

AND... as promised... here is this post's Asylum...
The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, constructed between 1858 and 1881, is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America, and is purportedly the second largest in the world, next to the Kremlin. The original hospital, designed to house 250 souls, was open to patients in 1864 and reached its peak in the 1950's with 2,400 patients in overcrowded and generally poor conditions. Changes in the treatment of mental illness and the physical deterioration of the facility forced its closure in 1994 inflicting a devastating effect on the local economy, from which it has yet to recover.

Guess what? This one offers tours...and it is only 5 hours from Charlotte!!!

I am Now A Groovy Gurl... OFFICIALLY! and...a confession

OK... time for me to come clean. I have an obsession with asylums. It is really a HUGE obsession and I especially LOVE this one as it is in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. It is the Buffalo State Hospital for the Insane. I was in Buffalo about 4 years ago and my sister,my mother and I went to go and see it. We walked around it and that building has a PULSE!!! It was built by H.H. Richardson and completed in the 1880's. It is what you think of when you think of an institution like this. My heart truly goes out to all of the people that went there as patients and the people that worked there to try and help them.
That being said... I was just chosen as a designer for Stamp Insanity. I figure I would combine my two obsessions and, when I post a creation using their products to my blog, I will feature an old and abandoned asylum. There may be others out there like me...follow me if you like these structures too.
Now you know the REAL reason I call this my RUBBER ROOM!!!

Don't YOU Shop Like This???

I don't do simple cards well, but I was pretty happy with the way this one turned out. I love the innocent little girls shopping... and the sentiment. I know this is they way that I like to shop. The white panel is embossed with the cuttlebug, I matted the shoppers on the black and mounted that on the white. the black ribbon was added and then I adhered the sentiment! Fun!!!
